Sunset Daycare is limited to 25 children each year between the ages of 2.5 – 5 years old. We accept a maximum of two children at any time who are between 2.5 years and 3 years of age (Licensing Regulations).
Sunset Daycare will offer available space for a child based 1) where the child is on the waiting list 2)
The daycare retains discretion to fill spaces to achieve gender balance and an appropriate distribution of ages, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the daycare program.
Wait list tours are scheduled upon request and are open to anyone interested in enrolling their child(ren). Please contact us to schedule a tour.
Admission for children on the waiting list is offered as follows:
- First priority: siblings of children who are currently enrolled.
- Second priority: siblings of children who attended this daycare in the past (alumni).
- General admission: those who have been on the waitlist the longest will generally be given priority.
Families who are phoned regarding a space will be expected to respond within 24 hours in order to show interest in the space. It is therefore important for families to contact the daycare if their contact information changes while they are on the waiting list.
Families called from the waitlist are asked to come for a two hour visit/observation from 9am-11am before a space may be offered.
Final confirmation of a space will require a refundable deposit equivalent to a one month daycare services fee.
Please go to the “Apply” page to sign up for the wait list.
Toilet training: The staff will be happy to support families with the process of toilet training if a child is not completely trained before entering the daycare.
Health issues: Children are required to be healthy enough to go outdoors each day (rain or shine) and participate fully in our daily program.
Vaccinations: Parents must provide proof of inoculation before the child enters the program. The parents of non-vaccinated children should contact the Head Supervisor for further information.
Volunteering: Parents are required to volunteer at least two hours a month at the centre. Jobs include Board member, grocery shopping, recycling returns, gardening/yard work, and other – we believe every parent can offer a skill to complement and partake in daycare operations.
