A typical day…

Each day one child is the “Helping Hand”. This person is selected by rotating through the enrollment list and he/she assists teachers with particular tasks. For example; ringing the bell to announce a transition from one routine to another, usually to end outside play, and handing out soap for hand washing.

Daily schedule:

7:30 – 9:00 am

Children and their families are greeted as they arrive

Children put their coats in their cubbies, change shoes if necessary & wash hands

Child-led activities/free play

Science/art activity is set up (teacher-guided)

9:00 am

Inclusive Program Begins

9:30 am

All children MUST be present at daycare

9:50 – 10:15  am

Wash hands for Open Snack (option if the child wants to attend or not)

10:15 am

Gather for circle time, then split into two small circles (1 circle is for children heading to Kindergarten and 1 circle is for the remaining children)

Music and movement, songs, games, stories (books, feltboard, oral)

10:40 am

All children use bathroom & change diapers

10:50 am

Outside play and activities

12:00 pm

Children are called inside & go to lunch circle

Lunchtime

1:00 pm

Bathroom Routine1:30 – 3:00 pm

Nap time 

Children quietly rest on their mats

3:00 pm

Bathroom Routine

3:30 – 3:50 pm

Wash hands for Open Snack

4:00 pm

Inclusive Program ends

4:00 – 5:30 pm

Free Play continues either Inside or Outside (weather depending)

5:30 pm

Daycare is closes – all parents MUST be out of the building
