If you are looking for full-time care for a child aged 3 to 5 in South Vancouver, we would be glad to hear from you. Everything you need is on this page: what it costs, who we can take, and how to apply.
What it costs
Fee schedule effective 1 April 2026.

These rates already reflect the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI), which Sunset Daycare has been approved to participate in. Unless specified otherwise, fees are per month and subject to change. Monthly fees include two snacks and a vegetarian hot lunch every day.
Who we can take
A few things are set by our licence, and a few by how the centre runs.
- Ages 3 to 5. We can also hold a maximum of two spaces at any time for children between 2½ and 3 years old, as our licence allows.
- Full-time only. We do not offer part-time spaces.
- 25 children in total, across the whole centre.
- Siblings come first. First priority goes to siblings of children currently enrolled, then to siblings of children who were enrolled in the past. After that, we go by who is old enough for the program and who applied first.
- Balance. The daycare keeps some discretion over how spaces are filled, so that the ages and the group stay balanced enough for the program to work.
What we ask of families
We are a parent participation co-operative, so this part is real. Please read it before you apply.
- Two hours a month, per family. Board member, grocery shopping, recycling returns, gardening and yard work, and more. Every parent has some skill the daycare can use.
- Outdoors every day. Children need to be well enough to go outside rain or shine and take part in the full program.
- Proof of immunisation before your child starts. If your child is not vaccinated, please contact the Supervisor first.
- Toilet training does not need to be finished. Our staff are happy to support families through it.
How it works
Four steps, start to finish.
- Send us the form below. Include your child’s name, date of birth and gender, your name and phone number, and when you would like to start.
- We call you. Please reply within 24 hours so we know you are still interested, and let us know if your phone number changes.
- Confirm the space with a deposit equal to one month’s fee. It is refundable and transferable.
- Come and visit. Once the deposit is paid, book a time to see the daycare and drop off your paperwork.
Children with extra support needs
Sunset is an inclusive setting. We believe every child has the right to take part in child care in their own community, whatever their ability. The Supported Child Development Program funds extra staffing here so we can include children who need additional adult support. There is a separate waitlist for these spaces. Please contact the Supported Child Development Program to be added to it.
