Sunset Daycare is limited to 25 children each year between the ages of 3 – 5 years old. We accept a maximum of two children at any time who are between 2.5 years and 3 years of age (Licensing Regulations).
We are a full-time daycare (we do not offer any part-time spaces).
The daycare retains discretion to fill spaces to achieve gender balance and an appropriate distribution of ages, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the daycare program.
Families who are phoned regarding a space will be expected to respond within 24 hours in order to show interest in the space. It is therefore important for families to contact the daycare if their contact information changes while they are on the waiting list.
Final confirmation of a space will require a refundable and transferable deposit equivalent to a one month daycare services fee.
Please go to the “Apply” page to sign up for the wait list.
Prerequisites
Toilet training: The staff will be happy to support families with the process of toilet training if a child is not completely trained before entering the daycare.
Health issues: Children are required to be healthy enough to go outdoors each day (rain or shine) and participate fully in our daily program.
Vaccinations: Parents must provide proof of inoculation before the child enters the program. The parents of non-vaccinated children should contact the Supervisor for further information.
Volunteering: Parents are required to volunteer at least two hours a month at the centre. Jobs include Board member, grocery shopping, recycling returns, gardening/yard work, and other – we believe every parent can offer a skill to complement and partake in daycare operations.
Supported Child Development Program
Sunset daycare is an inclusive setting. We believe that all children have the right to participate actively in childcare settings within their communities, regardless of their ability. The Supported Child Development Program provides additional funding for staffing at Sunset daycare. This support allows us to assist with the inclusion of children with extra needs to be successful in our child care program. There is a waitlist for these spaces. If your child requires additional adult support to attend child care please contact the Supported Child Development Program (https://bc-cfa.org/programs/supported-child-development/) to be placed on our waitlist.
